WOLWEDANS [Namibia]
This is one of the most breathtaking parts of Africa, a varied desert landscape with dunes which glow orange and are among the highest in the world. The ideal place to experience this desert paradise is Wolwedans. The camp is in the middle of the NamibRand Nature Reserve, which is one of the biggest private conservation areas in Africa and has a strict ethical code stating that there should be 1,000 hectares of natural surroundings around each guest bed.
This means that the camp, which lies 60 kilometres away from the nearest village, can only host a maximum of 20 guests at any one time. The first evening spent on the bungalow’s veranda is a dream: under a starry sky, brighter than any you have ever seen before.
