VAMIZI ISLAND [Mozambique]
Vamizi is a small, dreamy island lying in the north-east of the Quirimba Archipelago, a 200 kilometre island chain off the northern coast of Mozambique. The flight to the island from the airfield on Pemba takes about an hour and is well worth the while. There are 13 exclusive beach villas built on teak platforms on the beach.
Vamizi is a paradise for everyone who loves water and wildlife. Humpback whales swim around the islands from June to October, and sea turtles enjoy the white sands, the turquoise waters and the unspoilt coral reefs – year after year they return to Vamizi to lay their eggs.
